Edit:
I stand corrected. My frame was that submitted articles should be held to a completely different standard than comments.
I see that is not constructive and not the ethos of the site.
My apologies, original comment remains for the sake of accuracy, but I no longer endorse the intent.

When I read an article and it has an clearly misused word or grammatical error in the first paragraph, I become concerned the poster isn’t taking my time as a reader seriously.
It isn’t “cuddling” it is “coddling”.
I don’t really want to read an article about communication written by someone who doesn’t understand that distinction.
There’s too much to read each day.
- abyx 7y agoThanks for letting me know. Not a native English speaker so these show up every now and then even though I use tools like Grammarly. Will fix when next to a computer!
- mc3 7y agoAppropriate to the topic, you handled that feedback very well!
- dang 7y agoPlease don't frame comments like this in the form of an attack. HN has many, many users and authors who aren't native speakers of English. Frequently an odd and isolated error like that is evidence of how amazingly good their English is. The fact that it's not a mistake a native speaker would make should clue you in to that possibility. https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&query=by%3Adang%20english%20speakers&sort=byDate&type=comment https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu... https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
