This article is total garbage and will make you stupider for reading it.
1. Flawed warrant applications were made
2. Those flawed warrants revealed a criminal conspiracy at the highest levels of a presidential campaign, that has sent many people to prison. It is documented very well in the Mueller report. Further good background is the Crowdstrike report on the DNC hack.
This is gaslighting of the worst kind. The procedural errors made by the FBI while investigating the crime pale in comparison to the crime itself and this is a deliberate attempt to conflate the two. I have read Greenwald for the better part of two decades when he was writing independently on a Wordpress site and I have no idea what has happened to him.
- 867567838694 7y agoCome on people, are we really still this blind to everything that has been going on? And "that has sent many people to prison"... Really???? No it hasn't and there hasn't been a criminal act, much less a criminal conspiracy uncovered. I get it you hate Trump, but this shit should scare you.
- horsawlarway 7y agoSo all the juries who sent folks to jail got it wrong?
- throwaway29126 7y agoWhat do you mean by "No it hasn't"? I believe the parent is talking about: Manfort, Cohen, Papadopoulos, Gates, Flynn, and Stone. Are you saying they weren't sent to prison, or that the FBI investigation wasn't responsible for them going? Re, for example: https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/15/politics/trump-associates-convicted-in-mueller-related-investigations/index.html https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/15/politics/trump-associates-con...
- 867567838694 7y agoManafort - tax evasion nothing related to russia or the president Cohen - tax evasion nothing related to Russia or the president Papadopoulos, Flynn and Stone - Making false statements to congress or the fbi. No other charges of actual wrong doing and nothing remotely close to anything they were accused of. If Hillary was held to the same standards she would spend the rest of her life in prison! What's interesting is that all of this came from an illegally kicked off investigation and spying due to massive and purposeful illegal and deceitful tactics used by the FBI and the democrats. I would not be surprised if at least the last 3 all have their convictions overturned. The FBI made up a criminal case and then went after them for obstructing said made-up charges. The left is in denial now because the FBI's shady behavior suits your end goals... but this will rock federal law enforcement for decades and will only get worse the more that comes out. Things will even get worse if/when details of Schiff's collusion with said parties ever come out and if he's ever pointed at for being the cause of the illegal leaks from secure depositions which I suspect at least someone next to him was responsible for. Downvote me because you don't like my opinion, but I watched/listened to countless days of testimony on my office TV and the left has overplayed their hand. I hope this attempted coup was worth guaranteeing Trump 2020! There was a serious chance of defeating him without this and now it's a mega long shot.
- ericras 7y agoThe criminal conspiracy was very well documented in the Mueller report? As Greenwald says in the first sentence, no American was charged with conspiracy/collusion/coordination with Russia. All the people sent to prison are for process crimes or unrelated matters (Manafort). Hell, Roger Stone is going to prison for lying that he was part of a conspiracy with Wikileaks, when in fact he was making that up!
- snowwrestler 7y agoGreenwald has at least been consistent in his antagonism toward the state intelligence and law enforcement apparatus. It's unfortunate that that aligns him, now, with the gross political opportunism of a group of people who generally DO support an invasive government intelligence and law enforcement--as long as it is working in their favor. Now that it is in their interest to publicly attack this apparatus, they happily do so. As soon as it's working for them again, they'll wrap themselves in FBI hats and American flags again. One wants to say to Greenwald: "Read the room, man! You're supporting people who oppose your beliefs and would happily throw you in jail!" But of course a big part of being Greenwald being Greenwald is he sticks to his guns no matter how the room reads.
- heyflyguy 7y agoCheck your wording. There was no "criminal conspiracy". These were all criminal individuals acting criminally, and not in concert to achieve anything together. Their crimes indeed indicate this.
