Because from your POV it's "Amazon said it will be here today but it's not". I don't think that's true. Everyone I know seems to have a favorite of {UPS,FedEx} and thinks the other one is garbage. And people pretty universally hate the USPS. Amazon is trying to get into the delivery business, but people still recognize that there's usually a third-party shipping company that actually puts the box at their door.
