Personally, I use the following two combinations: - For things I will watch/listen to a lot, I purchase and rip to my server running Plex. Then I control my own streaming server and don't have to worry about where to find it. If you have a local secondhand store, its not hard to find what you are looking for. - For one offs, I can actually very reliably find it either on Redbox or my local library. The local Library had DVDs and Blu-Rays there. I watch and return.
