Thank you for bringing this up. The specific term, also a keyword in your linked paper, which describes this is "stereotype threat" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereotype_threat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereotype_threat . I'm calling it out specifically only because it's handy to have a short phrase to describe the phenomenon, and I'm not sure if everyone is aware of it or not.
