Feeling needed, learning to help, and being rewarded with happy words and a clear sense of success and achievement is like a hard drug. Every children will lean towards different activities; involving them will need a slightly different approach; and you will need to learn patience while they learn, so it's not a trivial task, but IME if you work it out, it works wonders even with the most challenged (or challenging) kids.
