Pair programming isn't intended to be an all the time thing. A great example of pair programming is a new person gets hired and you pair program with them on a ticket so they can ask questions along the way. Having recently joined a remote startup I found this to be pretty essential to getting anything done. It's a great way of elevating programming level as well. You see different ways of doing things, different tools they use, etc. Introverts are also not being targeted in any way. People who have been at this a while are just very aware that you can get far more accomplished with a team that works well together than an individual developer can. You can be an introvert and still an effective team member. Nobody is fully introverted or fully extroverted.
