China was stealing enough tech to do that. Also, self sufficiency was already a long term strategic goal, thus the tech stealing. It forces the issue, but hardly changes the calculus.
- tanilama 7y agoPrevious it is a cherry-on-top, now self sufficiency is their life line. A day and night difference. But I guess those days will arrive no matter what, as semiconductor ended its exponential growth era, the West can't have an edge forever, no matter how hard they try.
