- et2o 7y agoRegenstein Library at U of Chicago too
- andrewflnr 7y agoOoh, I kind of like that one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regenstein_Library#/media/File:Joseph_Regenstein_Library_in_2019.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regenstein_Library#/media/File... Having all the trees in the frame helps. Maybe we just need more trees.
- andrewflnr 7y agoInteresting example. I use the DC metro every day and it would never have occurred to me to call it brutalist. I could see it for the tunnels themselves. Certainly the above-ground portions have lots of purely decorative detail; in fact it would be foolhardy to attempt to label all the above-ground parts with a single philosophy since they have a lot of variety.
- darkr 7y agoLondon has plenty of well-loved and iconic brutalist examples. A far from complete list: Barbican Estate, Southbank Centre/Royal Festival Hall, Centrepoint, The Brunswick
- Nursie 7y agoI'm not sure many of those count as well loved. The South Bank is an abomination.
