  Hah, I actually did the same, and it was basically a stream of WTFs?! To put a positive spin on this (perhaps a first for me in this thread!), I plan on doing something of an internal post-mortem with my team, where we'll look at the deficiencies of this design, try to reason about how on earth it came to fruition, and critique our in-place review processes to make sure something like this never happens to us.
