This is only true if A) the thief knows that the vehicle they looted belonged to an FB employee (which is possible) and B) they didn’t already inspect the contents of the hard drives themselves and C) they read this article and did the math. Seeing as this theft occurred weeks ago, it’s hard to see this story compromising any kind of security. It’s foolish to assume that this announcement somehow makes things worse when an unencrypted hard drive walked off the premises and was stolen.
