Here’s something you don’t see every day, an internet-averse anarchist announcing on social media that he’ll be voting Labour in the December elections. But these are unprecedented times. I’ve voted only once in my life, more than forty years ago, being convinced that leaders are mostly of benefit to no one save themselves. That said, some leaders are so unbelievably malevolent and catastrophic that they must be strenuously opposed by any means available. nut simply, I do not believe that four more years of these rapacious, smirking right-wing parasites will leave us with a culture, a society, or an environment in which we have the luxury of even imagining alternatives.
- core-questions 7y agoImagine thinking that either of the two pablum offerings the Brits have to choose from would actually accomplish anything meaningful. Imagine thinking Boris would close off immigration and deport all the non-native people, or that Corbyn is really an anti-Semite like he's been smeared as. They're both stuffed suits. Nothing that matters to the life of the average native Briton is going to change for the better under either option.
- Porthos9K 7y agoAs a lifelong voter who has voted straight-ticket Democrat in every election since my 18th birthday because I'm convinced that the Republican Party's dominance is inimical to the continued liberty, prosperity, and happiness of all Americans, I don't buy Moore's reasoning. 40 years ago (in 1979) was when Margaret Thatcher began her tenure as prime minister, which didn't end until 1990. Her project to dismantle the post-war British welfare state remains ongoing. Why wasn't he voting to oppose the Tories at every opportunity? Why go so long without voting, and ignore opportunities to at least symbolically oppose other Conservative PMs like John Major, David Cameron, and Theresa May? Why now, of all times? Why not a couple of years ago, when David Cameron first floated Brexit? What makes the current situation so critical? As far as I can tell the situation has been critical since 1980. Has Moore not been paying attention?
