I couldn't agree with you more. People seem to forget that the power to tax someone comes from the barrel of a gun or the threat of prison. Maybe everyone should work for some part of the government for a short time in their life, so they can see how horribly inefficient they are. It would be much more courageous to propose legislation that held their feet to the fire financially, than just finding more places to take money from.
