I don't have too many data points, but of the ones I do have, I think the vast majority of C-level executives covet the CEO spot. I think they would love to get in the seat to show what they can do. You would have to look at the compensation packages, as well, but emotionally I am sure there were many people who wanted a chance at the saddle.
