What’s the advantage of lightweight threading features? I thought your position (based on comments elsewhere) was that kernel threads are roughly as fast as it gets? What am I misunderstanding?
- toolslive 7y agoThreads are fast, when they are working for you. If not, you need to wait until the work gets scheduled... and thread context switching is slow.
- pcwalton 7y agoI think M:N threads mostly aren't worth the drawbacks right now, but those proposed kernel features would change the calculus significantly.
