  Japanese men are also 'fed up' in the exact same way, and becoming "herbivores". It's not about individuals ("fathers, husbands and boyfriends") treating their partners like crap, it's about the lack of enduring social capital in a formerly group-oriented yet increasingly hyper-competitive society. The Western world is due to experience the same dynamics, unless we can get our act together.

  I think that with not too much more effort from your part then my comments could have been understood more charitably. Rephrasing: I find it funny that the only response from the government is to encourage women to get married, rather than encourage men to take part in raising children, or even encouraging other forms of raising children than the traditional micro family.
