- izzydata 7y agoThank you. For some reason I thought this would be about how to die honorably in a glorious viking battle. Not being sarcastic.
- HeWhoLurksLate 7y agoSame here.
- neltnerb 7y agoYeah, I think I was primed by the article about the radar used to find the viking ship.
- mongol 7y agoI wonder why that name was chosen.
- daniel_iversen 7y agoBecause java has slowly been dying? ;-) no I don’t think that’s why (and java is still being used a lot I guess) but that was what jumped to mind first thing when I read “project valhalla”. Not the most PR friendly name!
- smarks 7y agoThe initial concept was "value types" and we wanted a project name that was evocative of "value". Place names (even for mythical places) are good names since they cannot be trademarked. Hence, "value" => "val" => "Valhalla".
- mongol 7y agoThat was the type of interesting explanation I was wondering about. Thank you!
