I wish I could write like this.
- kick 7y agoYou definitely could: writing ability comes with practice, just like programming ability. I recommend trying to get a solid pace with it!
- saagarjha 7y agoI’d probably be too embarrassed with the intermediate results…
- kick 7y agoYou don't have to publish them immediately; when it's only you reading your writing, you might feel embarrassed, but no harm or loss of status will come to you, so you absolutely should at least give it a try!
- solveit 7y agoGood. That means you have good taste and can therefore improve.
- winter_blue 7y agoYes, this exactly. I read somewhere that being able to recognize that your work is not great (yet) is sign that you've got good taste. And it's that taste that gets you to place where you're able to produce amazing work.
- fenwick67 7y agoIra Glass's take on this is so good and I go back to it often when my creative work is less than satisfactory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2wLP0izeJE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2wLP0izeJE Basically when you work on creative stuff you're drawn to it because you have good taste, but for a long time your work will disappoint you because of your good taste.
- mark-r 7y agoJeff Atwood admits that one of his motivations for starting StackOverflow was to get programmers to communicate better. https://blog.codinghorror.com/how-to-write-without-writing/ https://blog.codinghorror.com/how-to-write-without-writing/
