I believe you can disable Chrome's reader mode in flags. I know you can force it to show up on all pages, as that's how I have it set up on my tablet (I use Firefox and Brave primarily, with Chrome or Bromite as a fallback)
- efreak 7y agoAlso, you might be interested in brow.sh, as it should provide easily readable, clean HTML that only contains visible elements. It should be better than dumping pages from links, as it supports scripting.
- dredmorbius 7y agoAt the cost of running a headless Chromium instance. I might look at that, though it seems inelegant / not quite what I'm looking for. Perfect vs. good, etc., etc.
- dredmorbius 7y agoYou can turn it off entirely. You can't load a page, though, and say "hey, please render this in Reader Mode". And you cannot (at least on Mobile, I've nuked Chrome/Desktop from orbit, it's the only way to be sure) configure the Reader's styling at all. I basically hate the font choice, size, margins, and about everything else. For Firefox, I apply a custom stylesheet to _its_ reader mode, but at least I can do that, and it's only once for all the sites encountered through it.
