Sure, I visit non-AMP sites all the time, and here's what happens: Reader mode comes up and shuts everything else down. I have it on by default, it's great. It blows AMP the hell out of the water and it's the only thing that makes the "unwashed" web (ie. anything that matches common search terms) tolerable.
