TIOBE notes that it is looking at popularity. This is different than use. Go didn't loose a bunch of users. In the ways TIOBE measures popularity... it lost some popularity.
- jerf 7y agoIt did not lose one third of its "popularity" in a month, either. You're putting a "just so" story on top of noise. Nor is this special pleading on my part; "Tiobe is mostly noise" has been my position for years, along with a lot of other people. Signal probably exceeds noise for maybe the first 3 or 4 or maybe 5 slots, after that it has a history demonstrably absurd claims about the popularity of things like REXX, which spent many years in the so-called "top 20", which is just ridiculous.
