They have factorized another challenge number [1]. It doesn't have any surprising impact. As computational power grows, it becomes easier and easier to factorize semi-primes (ignoring quantum computers). So either we have to use larger semi-primes in RSA, or use a different kind of algorithm like elliptic curves.
