TSMC has 6 month lead times on 7nm, and you best believe Apple gets the bulk of their fab capacity. AMD could have the best CPUs on earth. They’re not worth anything if you can’t actually buy them.
- mlyle 7y agoNo significant improvement in sight for Intel until 2021, while both TSMC and AMD yields and capacity on 7nm are going to ramp (not to mention Zen 3 and 7nm+ in summer 2020). Not to mention, it's hard to get the top SKUs from both AMD and Intel, but something that costs 85% of Intel consumer parts and has 110% of the performance is readily available.

- selectodude 7y agoThey’re up 50% over the past year. Might be priced in though, it’s a low margin capital intensive business.
- pheug 7y agoWhat do you mean low margin? They're making 45% gross / 30% net, that's pretty respectable I would think.
