SIGARCH finds no improper peer-review in events leading up to student's suicide
In June 2019, Huixiang Chen, a PhD candidate at the University of Florida's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was found hanged from a building on campus. He had killed himself, but prior to doing so, he sent a suicide note to his friends.[1]
The suicide note alleged a series of severe violations of the peer-review process for a paper submitted to and accepted by that year's International Symposium of Computer Architecture (ISCA).
In August, ACM SIGARCH and IEEE TCCA launched an investigation into the allegations.[2]
The investigation recently concluded, with the investigators finding no improper actions taken during the peer-review process.[3]
