- chrisseaton 7y agoWhy are you openly spam posting so many threads on the same topic? We only need one.
- ddingus 7y agoSome of those were both interesting and new to me. I am sure that is true for others.
- evross 7y agoFrom https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/blog/2019/11/isoc-pir-ethos-capital-deal-timeline/ https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/blog/2019/11/isoc-pir-... : "March 2019: ICANN receives 3,300 comments uniformly opposed to the change and 6 in favor of removing price caps, and sides with the 0.2% minority. May 2019: PIR responded to the comments with an open letter that said, “We are a mission-based non-profit, and would never betray the trust that you have put into .ORG and us.” On 7 May, Chehadé registered the domain for EthosCapital.com. On 13 May, ICANN decided to lift the price caps anyway. On 14 May, Ethos Capital was incorporated as a new investment firm founded by Brooks. Ethos Capital has two staff: Brooks and Nora Abusitta-Ouri, a former ICANN SVP who later worked for Chehadé and was also a classmate of Chehadé."
- jacquesm 7y agoVint Cerf did a lot of good but he also worked real hard to undo his legacy over the past decade or so. Unless I'm really mis-understanding him I keep finding myself on the opposite side of what he's arguing for.

- rhizome 7y agoIf this goes through, I hope this is all he is remembered for. Like Hans Reiser.
- jacquesm 7y agoI think there is some light between 'murdered his wife, mother of his two children' and 'sold out'. But Cerf was one of the greats and to see him fall so far is sad and depressing.
- balt_s 7y agoEveryone has a price.
- dang 7y agoThat's beyond the pale. Please don't do internet hell here. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- rhizome 7y agoWhat other example can I draw from? Pragmatism is all I was going for.
