FWIW, I attend the Less Wrong/Overcoming Bias NYC meetup regularly, and while there are maybe a couple borderline aspies (and I do mean maybe), most of the regulars are far from it. The NYC group may be atypical, but our "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" factor* is pretty high, and I'd say the emotional intelligence of the group is above average by a decent margin. *Of course, I'm being metaphorical here, since this is written down and all.
