Anyone know why TikTok and Douyin are bifurcated domains of the same app? They want to separate their domestic and international data mining efforts to minimize pre-processing or something?
- euix 7y agoIt's the only way to be a Chinese company and have a international audience. Douyin fully complies with Chinese regulators (i.e. censors) while TikTok is content managed separately. It's the same reason why the wechat that exists in the Chinese internet is different from the international wechat.
