I made exactly the same choice after the dot com boom. I have a wonderful rich life with less money but very high quality of life and more than anything, freewill, compared to peers. Highly recommended. The most valuable things to me are love first and time second. The benefits of freedom to be good and feel good about what I do are immeasurable.
