"It’s a pointless subscription that Google is trying to lazily ram down my throat instead of improving its offering,.." It's now fashionable to shit on google on HN, but Youtube premium is one of the best investments I've made, and I'm glad google is giving that choice. How many times have I not read comments like 'give me an option to pay instead of showing me ads' on HN. There are tons of videos on youtube that I listen to as podcasts while commuting (and there aren't enough good podcasts in that sector).
