This is demonstrably false. Here in the US, conservative states are net recipients for federal aid, yet they continue voting for the party that is determined to shrink the federal government and abolish many of the aid programs they are benefiting from.

- MisterBastahrd 7y agoHave you ever spent any time south of the Mason-Dixon line?Conservative "austerity" is the bastard stepchild of Jim Crow and it's pretty much been the central party plank for decades.

- blackflame 7y agoIf California actually paid to take care of the massive amount of homeless people I think this number would shift blue quite a bit. You cannot tax yourself to prosperity as a society.
