Interesting they are building the chip fab in Austin - maybe they will be moving more manufacturing to the US. Must be more convenient too since Apple is designing the silicon. Edit: Silicon, not livestrong bracelet material.

Austin has a very long history with semiconductors. No doubt the availability of capable employees and a local feeder school has played a large part in the equation.
