Fighting the good fight to maintain your social credit score, eh?
- mrobot 7y agoThere is so much misinformation regarding China. China helps all sorts of countries against western aggression. I support socialist projects like China and do not support a straight "free market" capitalist system. I like that they have state owned enterprises. I do not support the Hong Kong terrorists and really no one in the international left does.

- tomc1985 7y agoI understand I didn't phrase that in the best way but parent's comment is exactly the kind of misinformation and misdirection that is endemic among discussions on things like Uighur oppression, Hong Kong, foreign property speculation and wealth parking distorting housing markets on the West Coast US and Canada, the Great Firewall, and others. One feels compelled to stand up to these things -- especially when I have friends who have been personally affected negatively by the points I posted above. The Chinese governments' deputizing of its expats to control foreign perceptions of it is something that needs to be called out. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/angry-over-campus-speech-by-uighur-activist-students-in-canada-contact-chinese-consulate-film-presentation/2019/02/14/a442fbe4-306d-11e9-ac6c-14eea99d5e24_story.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/angry-over-campus-speec... https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/30/world/australia/hong-kong-china-queensland-protests.html https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/30/world/australia/hong-kong... https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/hong-kong-protests-australia-china-students-politics-11835418 https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/hong-kong-protests... https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/this-student-attended-a-protest-at-an-australian-uni-days-later-chinese-officials-visited-his-family-20190807-p52eqb.html https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/this-student-attende... https://www.economist.com/asia/2019/09/19/australian-universities-are-accused-of-trading-free-speech-for-cash https://www.economist.com/asia/2019/09/19/australian-univers... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/08/03/skirmishes-hong-kong-protests-reflect-growing-chinese-influence/ https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/08/03/skirmishes-hong-... edit- I see that you are aware of parent's tactics via replies to parent and comments, and I wrote this post before seeing that. I still stand by this argument even if its context is somewhat misinformed.
