I'll admit that it's not much of a strategy, but I don't read email on my phone. (I'm not being snarky or sarcastic, btw. Of course, if you actually really need to be responding to email in real time then I'm afraid I cannot help.) My philosophy about this can be summed up as: If it's important enough you'll call me (... and you'll call me again if I don't pick up the first time)... and I'll take your urgency VERY seriously. If you invest effort into communicating with me, then I'll reciprocate. If you're just firing off email... nah.
