It says that all men are endowed these rights by a creator, which doesn't imply that nationality has anything to do with those rights. George Washington was the worst of the Founding Fathers, and didn't write the Declaration of Independence.

- cma 7y agoJefferson refused to recognize Haiti as an independent republic.
- roywiggins 7y agoThe declaration says there's a right to "Life" and every one of the founders fought a bloody revolutionary war. I don't think it makes any sense to read the Declaration as a pacifist document.
