I once paid Inkd.com for logos, and they did a great job, so I hired them for a 3rd. The person responsible for making my logo good in the past, had left to go solo, and I ended up with shitty logos that I had to send back. Lesson learned: use them, and sometimes you'll have success and the name of a designer that you can count on. In most other cases, you'll be wasting your cash. There's a lot of talent to be found on freelance sites like Elance or oDesk if you know how to look.
