  Let your degree define what you can do. Never let it define what you cannot do. I'm a mathematician, doctor of philosophy, and my mom taught me to solder at around age 10. I've done some embedded systems work that involved etching my own PCBs and soldering circuits...

  I agree with the other comment! The best time to learn is now. You're never too old.to learn about how all of this works.

    Oh I agree, but I've never really been a hardware tinkerer though... that's not what I get enjoyment from so I don't really think about that stuff too much. I'll probably pick it up eventually... maybe.
