I really don't know where you get the idea that 75k is some sort of big compensation... earning 75k puts lots of limits on what one can do, hobbies/businesses one can start, and how secure one is in the future. Status - is derived from what one can get with money. For instance, being able to fly anywhere in the world and stay at an amazing hotel and eat great food, etc at the drop of a hat.
