I use Brave which is a fork of Chromium just like Chrome. Click Settings, Additional Settings, Privacy and Security, Site Settings, Javascript. Then under Block click Add and type www.nytimes.com as the URL and click Add. The site works fine for me then and is sooooo much faster to boot.
