I've tried to build 3 Go applications in the last couple of years and none worked because some of their dependencies had breaking changes in master. Hoping that someone doesn't push a breaking change on master, doesn't change username or doesn't delete their repo doesn't seem very sane to me. At least vendoring is well supported.
