I don't mean to cherry pick this comment as anecdotal evidence, but lately I have been disappointed at the quality of comments on ycombinator. This is comment is vacuous and emotional. Please take some time to back up your extraordinary claims, or else the level of discourse on this website will no doubt degrade to that of Reddit...
- topmonk 7y agoIMO Constantly comparing comments on this site to those from reddit is dragging it down to the level of reddit. > This is comment is vacuous and emotional. Emotional? Vacuous? Why do you think so? It almost sounds like, in a Freudian slip kid of way, you are actually being self referential :). > Please take some time to back up your extraordinary claims It's hard to know what you mean by extraordinary. Care to elaborate?
- jakeogh 7y agoThe sentence means the same thing without the word extraordinary.
- topmonk 7y agoSurely you're not saying I need to provide sources for everything I say, even the most obvious, are you really that pedantic?
- jakeogh 7y agoSurely you need to avoid the question you pretened to reply to.
- topmonk 7y agoI'm not avoiding anything, I just don't have the time to try and guess what I wrote the parent has a problem with and then source it all. If he would just clarify what his issues are, it would help. But instead all I seem to get are emotional tirades which never address my argument.
