Have you heard about Substack? Not big, but YC company, so it's kind of easy to bump around here. They are a platform to host your blog/newsletter and allow very easily to monetize it. You can charge at least $5/month from readers that want to get a paying-reader-only emails. Still allow you to post free posts/emails. I am using them basically as a free blog and newsletter hosting service for now, but with the hope that I grow an audience big enough to charge and earn some extra income. I think it would fit your desires quite well
