Any problems with AMD cpus and containers or virtualization?
(Really? Wow. Sorry for asking a question!)
- neogodless 7y agoI only have limited experience so far, but I was able to enable virtualization and run WSL on Windows 10 with a Ryzen 7 2700X with no obvious issues. I'm sure more in-depth, longer term container testing would be more useful to you, though!
- jmkni 7y agoSame with a 3700x. Running an Android Emulator, Docker, and WSL2 on Hyper-V simultaneously with no obvious issues.
- pb82 7y agoI'm running Kubernetes inside a libvirt VM on a Ryzen 3600. No issues at all.
- wayneftw 7y agoThanks to you and others for your data. I look forward to building my first AMD rig in like 15 years or something! I got an RX580 GPU just sitting around, from when I planned to upgrade my 2012 Mac Pro to support Mojave (not worth doing I decided). Now I just need the rest of the machine!
- Bayart 7y agoNo problem on my side of things running Docker at home on an R5 2600. I heard there were a few problems with IOMMU in the beginning but it should be long gone. Considering AMD's getting into the server market pretty convincingly I don't think you'll have issues on the sysadmin side. If you've got any problem it's gonna be from dodgy BIOSes and half-compatible hardware, the kind of stuff you might get running an older AM4 motherboard.
