What's a useful definition of what AGI is? If you have a computer that does some clever AI stuff, what criteria do you look for to decide that it has a general intelligence?
- lonelappde 7y agoAGI means it can solve any problem posed to it and interface with any sensory and motor peripheral.
- drdeca 7y agonot every problem. Not expected to e.g. solve the halting problem. If it can solve every problem that a human can solve, then it would be AGI. If it can solve every problem that a somewhat unintelligent human can solve, I think that would still count as AGI.
- dingo_bat 7y agoAn average human would realize it if you pose the halting problem to him. I'd expect the same from an AGI. To recognize such a problem and refuse to continue to devote time solving it.
- olalonde 7y agoIt's generally used to mean human level intelligence (e.g. an AI that can learn any task a human can). An often cited criteria is passing the Turing test.
- username90 7y agoThe Turing test is too easy. My test would be when the AI can apply to a random remote job, get it and then receive salary for a few years, quit, apply to a new job with updated CV, get a raise etc without anyone noticing it is an AGI.
