If you're not well to do that charge will probably stick. Meanwhile the cops that turn a blind eye or cover for cops falsifying time cards, keep their mouth shut about planting evidence and drive their drunk buddies home from the scene of the crash get what? And that's not even counting the massive double standard when it comes to lethal force.
