I switched to iCloud as my primary email account and use Mail on macOS and iOS. Good enough for how I use email. GMail is an awful experience these days and would consistently bury important messages (to me anyways) in the tabs/buckets (or whatever they're called) no matter how many times I would drag them back to Inbox/Primary.
