Can anyone explain what this means for the future of Docker the company?
- Kovah 7y agoI doubt that much will change. Docker itself already has a paid platform, Docker Hub, which generates revenue trough the private registry. It sounds like Enterprise was a separate branch anyway, so it doesn't seem to affect Docker itself.
- flardinois 7y agoDocker also announced a $35M raise today: http://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2019/11/13/1946551/0/en/Docker-Restructures-and-Secures-35-Million-to-Advance-Developer-Workflows-for-Modern-Applications.html http://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2019/11/13/1946551...
- streetcat1 7y agoYes. Docker the company is gone. It is hollowed out. Docker Enterprise will morph into mirantis Kubernetes offering as added features. Probably the rest of the company will turn into some sort of Kubernetes desktop dev tool.
