I've been reading "Drawdown: The most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming" edited by Paul Hawken https://www.drawdown.org/the-book https://www.drawdown.org/the-book My impression so far is that offshore wind, onshore wind, and solar are promising solutions for doing the bulk of the heavy lifting for energy production. Of course it isn't an all or nothing, but scaling up nuclear isn't 'vital'.
