Out of interest, what happened with the Opterons?

  Best guess: They were only relevant for like 4 years. As soon as Conroe Xeons hit the scene it was game over.

  I've read somewhere (can't find it) that they signed some long-term contracts with OEMs and then cancelled them in the middle (probably to avoid bankruptcy).
