Or maybe this constant harping on how bad of a place it is, when they have had the greatest standard of living ever since humankind started, is tantamount to malevolent brainwashing.
- lunias 7y agoEven if we currently have the greatest standard of living that does not mean that the rate of increase in quality of life hasn't slowed (or reversed) nor that our standards may soon see regression. It's not where you are, but where you're going that gives you hope.

- pcurve 7y agoLiving standard certainly has gone up but I don't think that has really benefit kids in meaningful way for the past few decades. In fact, quality of life for kids have gone, I feel. Even for adults, I do wonder if it actually has had much impact on overall happiness and well being.
- DarthGhandi 7y agoCan't speak for other countries but numerous reports have come out over the years showing younger Australians are definitely on track to have a lower standard of living than the previous generation, for the first time in history. Perhaps instead of highly loaded phrases such as brainwashing would you take a moment to review the evidence of this occurring? It's an unprecedented time in history, real assets are worth more than ever, labor worth very little. Consider which generations have which. https://grattan.edu.au/report/generation-gap/ https://grattan.edu.au/report/generation-gap/
- jesterson 7y agoIt's not just Australia, this pretty much applies to any other first-world country.
