Speaking of LEGO, I went to the Alcatraz tour in SF and they had an amazing lego mural on the floor consisting of the faces of important civil disobedience activists.
It was done by Ay Weiwei remotely from his home in China (he's under house arrest).
Not the same one, but similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2dzAdK1s3E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2dzAdK1s3E
- flyGuyOnTheSly 7y agoAi Weiwei has been happily living in Germany since 2015, FYI! [0] [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ai_Weiwei#Release https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ai_Weiwei#Release
- kabes 7y agoHe's living in Cambridge now. I read an interview last year where he talked about moving out of Germany since it was 'no longer open to other cultures'. Strangely enough his plan at the time was to move to the USA during Trump administration. Looks like he decided to move to another country under a nationalist/protectionist government to find his openness towards other cultures...
- mschuster91 7y agoOr he decided to move to a country that is not caving to China. Germany bows over backwards to China (still haven't banned Huawei or done anything meaningful regarding the Muslim Gulags), not to mention the "nazi emergency" that Dresden recently declared or how Germany allows China to gobble up companies left and right. Meanwhile, UK is certainly not going to hand him over to China, and the US under Trump is going openly offensive against China as well. I despise both Trump and BoJo, but the only way left to deal with China is massive international sanctions, blockades or outright war.

- Tepix 7y agoWhy would they ban Huawei? Because Trumps wants them to?
- kabes 7y agoSure, but then why wouldn't he say so? It's not like he likes Chinese government very much, so why would he present it as a racism issue? It's almost the opposite...
